Military Spending: Squandering the Present, Imperilling the Future

25 April 2021 @ 11:30 am 12:30 pm

In the midst of the Covid, economic and ecological crises the UK government has announced the biggest percentage increase in military spending in almost 70 years. The military budget is being increased by over £24 billion over the next 4 years. These extra public funds are largely being squandered on a deeply worrying new arms race, while many social and ecological needs are not being met.
On Sunday 25 April at 11.30 there will be a meeting for learning on military spending organised by the Forest of Dean Quaker Meeting. This will be an opportunity to explore these dangerous developments, as well as to consider how we can challenge them.

The topic will be introduced with a talk by GCOMS UK Steering Group member Daniel Jakopovich, Peace & Disarmament Programme Manager at Quakers in Britain.
