As the Global Days of Action on Military Spending get underway, activists around the world are calling for a different approach to global affairs as government continue to prioritise ever-increasing military spending rather than peace building and genuine security.

In the UK supportive organisations of GCOMS-UK are taking action to challenge the recently announced increase in military spending while international development and welfare spending is cut.
Don’t Bank on the Bomb UK has an open letter to UK institutions who are currently funding nuclear weapons. You can also join them for an online meeting on April 22 to hear the latest updated on the campaign.
Women In Black London will be holding vigils on Wednesday 23 and 30 with a focus on GDAMS between 18.00 – 19.00 at the Edith Cavell statue, St Martin’s Place, London. Women only. People will be invited to write messages on how they would spend £62 billion.
Local Stop the War Coalition groups have meetings planned to discuss the increase in military spending and cuts to welfare support in Bristol and Islington.
CND have an online action where you can contact your MP and ask them to sign Early Day Motion 925 in Parliament which calls on the government to reverse plans to increase military spending and reinvest the money into public services and international development.
Other online meetings will see representatives from Campaign Against the Arms Trade and Rethinking Security will take part in a New Economy Organisers Network meeting Making Sense of Increased Military Spending
