The Global Day of Action on Military Spending “People’s Poll” ran 13-20 April 2015. In person and online, participants chose how they would spend £38 billion (the annual figure spent by the UK on the military) for a safer world. This is how they voted.
Education is my number one priority for its power to shape a generation. This money could be put to much better use, giving children opportunities for growth and learning and development as individuals whose individual needs are recognised and met, and for supporting teachers in their vital role as mentors in this process. Teach children self-awareness and effective, peaceful conflict resolution in their own lives and this could translate into great things in the world.”
Without international cooperation and development, the world will be lost.
Education, health care and climate change are actually all equally important.
Security is a fundamental part of Government responsibility. However, I think we will achieve a more secure and safe world by working with other countries to help them develop, tackle climate change and generally reduce the tensions that grow out of huge disparities in wealth between countries.
Climate change is the greatest threat to the planet.
We need to better educate the next generation so that they can face global problems creatively and courageously.
